Jarrod Lorenzen

Those of us that had the opportunity to watch Kentucky’s Jarrod Lorenzen on the field had never seen anything like this unique athlete, and
may never again.

Jarrod was a Kentucky kid, he attended Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, and was a stand out in football, basketball, and baseball. In basketball, he was a three-year letterman and helped lead his team to Kentucky Sweet 16 appearances. I personally had the opportunity to see him at Rupp in the Sweet 16 high school tournament. As a junior quarterback, he passed for a Northern Kentucky-record 2,759 yards and 37 touchdowns in 13 games.

As a senior in 1998, he completed 62 percent of his passes for 3,393 yards, 45 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 904 yards (8.4 average per carry) and 15 TDs in leading Highlands to a 15–0 season and No.19 national ranking. Yes you are reading this correctly. A high school senior completed 62% of his passes. As a senior at Highlands he earned Kentucky’s Mr. Football Award. Five games into his senior season, Lorenzen committed to the University of Kentucky, BBN was glad he did. The next four years he provided Kentucky football fans some of the most memorable moments in UK Football history.

IN my opinion, Jarred was on of the few people that really understood what life is all about. Many people today seem to be in a mindset of trying to get their 15 minuetes of fame, I gotta get mine. The video below gives great insights into his infectious joy and advise to “Keep Touching Lives”

Rest in Peace!
