Anthony Davis is a NBA basketball player currently playing for the LA Lakers. He, is one of the tallest players in the NBA. He was the number one player picked in the 2012 NBA draft by the ‘New Orleans Pelicans.
Since high school, Davis has been a standout basketball player. Through out his career he has played every position on the basketball court.
During the last days of his high school career, Davis got the attention of college scouts because of his tall physique and agility. He played guard most of his career and had a tremendous growth spurt during his senior year.
During high school he was chosen for the “McDonald’s All-American Game.” Coach Cal recruited Anthony to the UK Wildcats.
After his freshman year at UK, Davis was also awarded the Year’s National Freshman by the US Basketball Writers Association.
He was also recognized as a member of the US national basketball team and in 2012, in the ‘Olympic Games,’ won a gold medal. Anthony has broken numerous NBA records during his first 6-years of his career.

Anthony Davis was born on March 11, 1993, in Illinois, Chicago. His father and mother, are both over six feet tall. Davis’s tall physique can be credited to the genetics he inherited. With his height of 6 feet and 11 inches, Anthony Davis is one of the tallest players in the NBA. His balance and agility has made him a legendary shot blocker.
Anthony has two sisters. Antoinette and Lesha who are also basketball players.
Anthony Davis joined the ‘Perspectives Charter School,’ and the basketball team. But his school didn’t pay much attention to athletics, so they had no exercise or workout equipment. Davis, along with his other teammates would go to a nearby church to practice and workout.
Davis really didn’t get the attention of most college coaches during his early high school days.

Anthony Davis is single. In multiple interviews he has stated he is only focused on his game and winning an NBA Championship
While at Kentucky BBN knew he was a great young man. Davis also has a philanthropic side to him and is extremely generous. Once he donated 65,000 dollars to help in constructing a basketball court at the ‘Perspectives Charter School’, his alma mater. He also serves Thanksgiving meals each
year to needy and deprived families. A tradition that Cal started at Kentucky when he first took the University of Kentucky job.

He broke and set numerous records in the 2011-12 college basketball season.
In January, Davis set a new record in ‘Kentucky’ men’s basketball, for single-season blocked shots
with the highest in UK Basketball history. He blocked 7 Shots in one games setting a new single game
record.
By the end of the 2012 season, BBN expected if an opponent dared to shoot a shot near Davis, it was going to be blocked. He ended the year with a total of one hundred and eighty-sixed blocks. He set the NCAA freshmen single season record for blocked shots.
Anthony was the first pick in the 2012 NBA draft . Team mate Michael Kidd Kilgrest was the second over all pick. In July 2012, Davis signed a 3 year contract with a guarantee of $16 million dollars.
In the year from 2013 to 2014, the ‘New Orleans Hornets’ changed their name to the ‘New Orleans Pelicans.’ Davis also got the title of the youngest player in franchise in history to get a double-double by grabbing 15 rebounds and scoring 25 points.
Then in December, Davis was again put aside because of an injury. Unfortunately, he lost the opportunity to perform in his own birthplace, Chicago. In January, he was selected to play as a player for ‘Rising Stars Challenge.’
During his first three years in the NBA Anthony was sidelined off and on with injuries. At the end of 2014 Anthony was voted 3rd in the ‘NBA’s Most Improved Player’
The highlight of Anthony’s 2918 season was scoring 48 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in a win over the ‘New York Knicks.’
